Who we are
KEMA (KE Music Awards) is an award for Haitian music. KEMA is responsible for the personal information this site collects.
For any question about your information, write to us on the Contact page, topic “My personal data”.
Visiting the site
You need no account to read the site. KEMA uses no advertising and no analytics tools that track visitors.
Like every site, the server receives your IP address when you open a page. We use it only to protect the site from abuse (for example, limiting how often one connection can send a form).
What we collect, and why
We collect information only when you give it to us in one of the site’s forms:
- Fan Favorite (FanVote): first and last name, email, phone, location, the artist you chose, whether you want news, and IP address. For: one vote per person, confirmed with a code by email, and to detect fake votes. The site shows only vote counts, never your name.
- KEMA news: your email and language. For: sending you KEMA news. Every email has a link to unsubscribe.
- The jury: name, email, phone or WhatsApp (optional), photo, title, declared conflicts of interest, and your rankings. For: running the vote. Under the rules, each judge’s ballot is published with their name after each winner; email and phone are never public.
- Jury applications: name, email, phone (optional), field, location, Instagram (optional), your note, and IP address. For: reviewing your application.
- Contact: name, email, topic, your message, and IP address. For: answering you.
Who sees your information
KEMA’s administrators. A viewer (read-only role) sees the admin screens without emails, phone numbers or IP addresses. We never sell your information.
A few services work for us:
- Hostinger: hosting of the site, its database and its CDN.
- An email service (Brevo): sending login codes, FanVote confirmations, news and notifications.
- Google Fonts: the site’s typefaces; your browser connects to Google to load them.
- YouTube, TikTok and Apple Music: only when you press “Listen” or “Watch”. You can turn them off in Cookie settings.
How long we keep it
A login code expires after 10 minutes. A judge’s session stays open for at least 7 days, through the jury vote, and at most 45 days.
Everything else is kept as long as the award needs it (the edition and its public record). You can ask us to delete it at any time. Results and ballots already published remain part of the award’s public record.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop receiving news. Write to us on the Contact page, topic “My personal data”; we will answer by email.
Security
The whole site runs over HTTPS. Login codes are stored hashed, not in plain text. Only KEMA’s administrators can log in to the admin page.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page, with its date at the top.
