IBiography

Ekip is a Haitian konpa band formed in 2020 under the leadership of percussionist, songwriter and producer Hervé “Shabba” Anténor. Its original vocal lineup featured D-Perfect and Steeve Khé. The group emerged during a period of transition following changes within Djakout #1 and quickly developed its own contemporary identity.

Ekip introduced itself with “Chire Filè,” its 2020 carnival song, followed by “Bingo.” Its debut album, Back in the Game, arrived in 2021 and combined konpa with zouk, R&B, rabòday and troubadour influences. Songs such as “Ze Fele,” “Nou Kit,” “M’pa Panike” and “Plis Lanmou” helped establish the band in Haiti and the diaspora.

The group released its second album, Makiye Mizè W, in 2024. The project explored relationships, resilience and social conditions in Haiti, with contributions from Bedjine, Kenny Haiti, Baky, Domec Brusly and Leroy Beat. “Separasyon,” featuring Bedjine, became one of Ekip’s most prominent collaborations.

After the departures of D-Perfect and Steeve Khé, Ekip introduced EmmiNix and D-Singer as its new principal voices. This renewed formation released the group’s third album, An Militè, in September 2026. The album features Anie Alerte, Kenny Haiti, Wyclef Jean and Black Dada.
